Apparently we will see the asteroid at 2:30am just under the southern cross.

DA14 apparently will be visible from 4am-6am in WA?
I'm getting conflicting times.
Anyone know?

We actually get to see it at closest approach and it will be visible for several hours. Best time (for Perth) is between 3am and 4am when it will be at it's brightest. That 4-6am sounds like an eastern states time.

You will need at least binoculars to see it, it wont be naked eye. Best place to get an easy chart for your particular location is at http://www.heavens-above.com Don't expect anything too spectacular, it may well be like watching paint dry, so bring lots of patience.

Paul Pichugin was up super early to get this shot of the asteroid and possibly one of the best I have seen so far today:

Here's my effort, a brief length of video through my 8" Meade:

Really needed a smaller telescope with a wider field of view but I wasn't expecting it to be so bright and fast! Will know for next time...
