Here are the times for the phases of the Lunar Eclipse tonight:

Begins - 7.34pm.
Partial eclipse begins - 8.46pm.
Total eclipse begins - 10.06pm.
Greatest eclipse - 10.31pm.
Total eclipse ends - 10.57pm.
Partial eclipse ends - 12.17am.

Someone asked Paul Pichugin how to get a good photo of the moon. He wrote:

It looks like a rock melon when you see it close up.
That crater and the lines running off it. Yeah it's rock melon for sure.

Wow and I thought my pics were good! :) I got some great ones with my point-and-shoot. It looks so cool. I've seen them before, but I never get tired of stuff like this. Prime view from my balcony. Shared some viewing time with a huge spider who was just swingin' away in the wind on his or her web.

Totality began at 10:06pm but was at it's peak at 10:31pm and will last till 10:57pm before eventually finishing at 12.17am.

70-300L @ 300mm, on a steady tripod and utilising liveview and 10x mag function to confirm focus. Pics are a 1:1 crop.

Simon, how are you finding the new 70-300 L? I'm thinking of maybe getting one of these or another 100-400 IS but still can't decide.
