Breaking Weather News - Cold spell drops Alps below minus 15!
Tom Saunders, 25 July 2008

Southeastern Australia is shivering through the coldest weather in about a year, a trend set to continue during the weekend.

Temperatures on Thursday night plummeted as low as nine below average, including a bitter minus 15.5 degrees at Charlotte Pass, the coldest temperature recorded in Australia so far in 2008. :o

Sub zero temperatures were not just confined to the Alps. Ernabella in SA dropped to minus five, their coldest night in at least 11 years. In Tasmania, Dover dropped to minus two degrees, their coldest night in 17 years.

Southeastern Australia will wake to another frigid morning on Saturday, with Canberra forecast to hit minus four degrees and Cooma minus eight.

While nights become warmer over the weekend, daytime temperatures will fall as very cold southerly winds spread north from the Southern Ocean. The cold southerlies will reach as far north as Queensland by Monday.

Weatherzone is always stuffing up with their figures... they can't even get our average rainfall figure right... it is 170mm not 149mm for july !!

Hence Weatherzone is no true weather service. They make up stories when things are happening without results made. Just make sure your using BoM's observations and averages to make the result.
