Possible Trop. Low/Cyclone Indian Ocean first week of April

Postby brayden » Mon Mar 31, 2014 8:45 am

Hi all,

The GFS model atm is going for a trop. low/cyclone to form over the Indian Ocean around Wed 2nd April.

Wind field at 1000hPa, http://earth.nullschool.net/#2014/04/02 ... 15.73,1106

Have a go at the control (i.e. +3hrs arrow) in the menu and see the low track south.

Hopefully if it eventuates, it would track more SE/E and provide some nice precip. for WA/SWLD or it or any leftovers got caught up in a front :D lol

Left overs are sometimes the best bit.
The soil moisture is in a bad way.

Had another look at the wind field. Going from late 8th into the 9th, it looks like the low will get pushed closer to the WA coast by a front/SW winds, still a long way off model wise.

Ahhh
We are enjoying some of that cloud now just as you mentioned we would :)

The trop low in CoralSea looks promising as well. Tracking west. Well a bit extreme to see it come into WA waters. Fingers crossed.
