Esperance Thunderstorm

Postby Dylfish » Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:57 pm

Hey Guys,

This thunderstorm flew through Esperance early January 2012, Is that cool looking cloud just a standard thunderstorm or something different?

Sorry about the quality, it was taken on my Iphone while driving around.

Hmm, it's too small to be a supercell thunderstorm and there's no visible rotation that I can see. I'd say that's lenticular cloud associated with an unstable atmosphere. There's nothing to suggest it was connected with any other recognizable features of a severe thunderstorm. What were the conditions like when it passed through?

yeah it was late afternoon, warm day (early/mid 30's), had a fair bit of rain later with some pretty awesome lightning which lasted into the night. Didin't think it was anything major, just looked very cool and had some nice weather with it.
