*HUGE NEWS, FIRST LIGHTNING WEBPAGE IN WA*

Postby Tom M (Chaser 80) » Tue Jun 07, 2011 9:25 pm

So I have some huge news to announce people. I’m guessing everyone on this forum bar none are going to be happy with this. :D
I have just put online WA's first dedicated lightning detector.
It detects, where, when, and what type of lightning, within an approx 600km RADIUS of Perth, in real time, well it updates every minute.
You can view it at http://www.tkup.net/lightning/StormVue.html
you can view the static page (updates every 5-10 minutes) at http://www.tkup.net/lightning/nexstorm.jpg
A lot of people have probably seen these before in the states and NZ. But now we have one.
PLEASE keep in mind, i am still calibrating it, and realistic accuracy is about 500kms.
any updates on it I will let you know, and any questions, shoot!

Regards Tom

Considering you have nailed it with your "cool music detector" at the NewPort, I can see this working out so well :)

Error 509 "Bandwidth Limit Exceeded"

Shame as there is a bit of action around right now.
Perhaps you need a better host? Can get some real good ones for under $10 month.

Yo, sorry for that everyone. FYI! please keep in mind that the Detector seems to pick up a bit, sometimes alot, of local interference. so sometimes it will say there is alot of strikes in quick succession, when you know there is no lightning out there. just take this into consideration when looking at the detector. Thanks

Cheers! It's been running since 2009 but no one knew about it! LOL. Now that we have 2 up and publishing to the web we may be able to join Strike Star. http://www.sphere.net.au/strikestarau/

By the way Tom, Astrogenic will stop supporting StormVue this year due to Java problems. You may have to go to StormVue NGX. Which is better anyway. There are third party scripts that are good as well. Let me know if you need a hand.
