Maybe Muddy May 2016

Postby davo » Wed May 11, 2016 10:16 am

The positions of the highs are good for this time of year, quite far north. But not much northerly push in any of the fronts, really. May's looking a bit meagre...

the AAO is still in the negatives, which is a good sign.

Keen to have a look at the An225 Landing at Perth 10am Sunday morning (not that I want get stuck in the crowds!), but just wondering if anyone knows whether it'll be a 03 or 21 Landing direction? Anyone got any good links to wind predictions? Looked on BOM site, but with the approaching front at that time I was certain it would be southerlies... however seems difficult to predict. May be too far out.

Is the AAO value up on the BOM site anywhere? Or where would you find it? (or you could just look at the MSL chart of Antarctica I suppose and get a rough idea).

Is it just another way of saying, as my dad always did, where the long-wave trough is?

Interesting weather approaching and BOM has broken the latest observations system.

I do hope Perth radar does not break down during the passage of the front tomorrow morning.

There used to be quite a bit of chatter on this site before an event like this, where do all the cool kids post now?

Debris on the roads this morning when going to work.

Power went out several times last night as well.

The posts have been getting less and less :(

Some forums still survive and increasing since they cater for audience that has a particular interest. AV forums are a good example as it caters for a niche group unlike weather, everyone has some interest and love to share info and photos etc so its was always going to move onto social media. WA Weathergroup is still going well with twitter thanks to Fu Manchu and thats why we dropped the .com from the logo a few months back. We also got a great relationship with Perth Weather Live. The forum will still continue as normal as much as possible since everyone isn't on Facebook or Twitter. The Google+ page I decided not to worry anymore.

Starting from June we will get rid of the monthly threads and move on to seasons instead. However we nearly on our 10th year. There is alot of WA weather history on the archives section.
