A few sprinkles here today, and not the sandwich type sprinkles either
Mostly sunny though.

Could be some serious storms on the cards for friday throughout the wheatbelt, looking potentially severe around that lake grace area.

STW out for areas north and east of Perth. Hoping Perth can finally see some action.

Nice thunderstorms North of Perth this arvo. My question is we had such good development north and nothing metro, what was the straw that broke the camels back so to say.
Is it due to the lifting at 950 because of the convergence & confluence I've circled in pink?

The obs between Perth metro and where the storm fired weren't too far away from each other, so where was the difference?

Re: Knowvember 2015 More spring storms please!
Perth was right on the trough line instead of east where the storms fired. The light seabreeze kept the storms east of us. How storms develop tomorrow will depend on where the trough is.

Re: Knowvember 2015 More spring storms please!
Thanks for your reply. I take it the convergence I circled is part of the larger lifting caused my the trough line then? Almost like embedded pockets of lifting within the overall trough?
I say this because the storms fired on the same longitude as Perth, but just north and moved east from there.
Good chance I'm wrong though =)

It seems like the Metro area is being affected by a weak cold pool. Here in Marangaroo we just had a typical cold pool shower and there are more showers on Perth radar.

Re: Knowvember 2015 More spring storms please!
I use EWN from time to time Craig, I'd say it's all sourced from BoM? From memory last Friday was a chance of storms (according to BoM and EWN) for the inland lower west which did eventuate, well it was basically the wheatbelt.
Today --> Saturday looks interesting for south WA! Some heavy falls forecast inland on Saturday, hoping for some moisture/storms to get pulled over the metro area.
STW out for large parts of WA today. Decent looking storm east of Gero, tracking south.
Severe Thunderstorm Warning
for damaging winds, large hail and heavy rainfall
for the Gascoyne, Goldfields, South Interior, Central West and Central Wheat Belt forecast districts
Issued at 9:15 am WST on Wednesday 2 December 2015.
For people in parts of WA in an area bounded by Kalbarri to Dalwallinu to Leonora to Carnegie to Three Rivers to Kalbarri. This includes people in, near or between the following towns: Northampton, Dalwallinu and Meekatharra. This does not include Kalbarri.
People are advised that there is a risk of SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS this afternoon and evening.
Storms may be accompanied by
- DAMAGING WINDS
- LARGE HAIL
- HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING.
Storms could cause DAMAGE TO HOMES AND PROPERTY.
The overall weather pattern is not unusual for this time of year, but severe weather may occur in some parts of the warning area.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
If outside find safe shelter away from trees, power lines, storm water drains and streams.
Close your curtains and blinds, and stay inside away from windows.
Unplug electrical appliances and do not use land line telephones if there is lightning.
If there is flooding, create your own sandbags by using pillow cases filled with sand and place them around doorways to protect your home.
If boating, swimming or surfing leave the water.
Do not drive into water of unknown depth and current.
Slow down and turn your headlights on.
Be alert and watch for hazards on the road such as fallen power lines and loose debris.
If it is raining heavily and you can not see, pull over and park with your hazard lights on until the rain clears.
The next warning will be issued by 12:15 pm WST Wednesday.
