Blitzortung needs more WA lightning detectors

Postby steerage250 » Thu Nov 27, 2014 8:20 pm

I built and installed a Blitzortung lightning detector earlier this year, but with only one other in WA, all it does is help plot lightning over the rest of Australia - but not here in WA :( . We need another 3 or 4 in WA - preferably spread around (eg goldfields, Pilbara, great southern, south west etc) to enable Blitzortung to start locating lightning strokes in WA.

If anyone else is interested in building a lightning detector, check-out the Blitzortung site (http://www.blitzortung.org). If you think your electronics assembly skills might not be up to the task, I might be able to assist.

My detector is contributing to stroke detections thousands of km away to the north (Pilbara) and north-east (NT).
