Still looking pretty decent east of Perth this evening. Me and Brayden will be heading out today, not sure how far we'll go yet.

Lightning and thunder in Clarkson now, headed southeast. Been watching the cell develop to the NW since lunch. Thought it had potential. Quickly building on radar also.

Was in the hills when that little blob passed through. Absolutely massive drops of rain but nothing substantial only 1-2 mls. Few nice thunder strikes to contrast with the green tree tops though.

However it also recorded -49.9°C over night.
BoM will let that one through to the keeper

Small hail dropped in Perth's north from that cell.

How did the crew go with their chase yesterday?
A bloody big dart board for the storms. A huge gamble for a chase.

Me and Brayden headed out about 9am. We headed to Northam and our initial goal was to either trek it all the way to Kal and get some ripper storms in the Goldfields or stick around and wait for the convergence to fire in the eastern wheatbelt.
We met up with chasers Michael Beazey and his partner and went after a cell that developed northwest of Perth. By the afternoon, I suspected that cells were moisture starved and something was lacking to keep them going up and firing.
The afternoon went on into evening and we chased a line of cells east toward Quairading. They promptly died after sunset and we decided the day was a bust and we'd make our way back to the pub in Northam and have dinner. By the time we got back there, the pub was closed to meals so we did a maccas run and checked the radar for the last time.
Bingo. We had a huge line of storms building towards Merriden, travelling SE at about 20km/h. We decided they were chaseable and we headed east.

We left after midnight and got home at 3:30am to get some sleep. Not a bad chase after all. :)
