D'you lie (in the rain in) July

Postby davo » Tue Jul 01, 2014 8:53 pm

OK, obviously everyone's too lazy to think of a title. Don't care if you change this one cos it is a bit stupid!

Thought we'd better get July underway cos tomorrow (and the next week) looks pretty interesting:

Perth area forecast

Cloudy. Gusty winds early in the morning. Heavy rain developing early in the morning, easing to isolated showers in the afternoon, clearing in the late afternoon. Winds northerly 15 to 25 km/h shifting south to southwesterly 25 to 35 km/h in the early afternoon.

Can anyone paste in a better forecast?? I'm not sure how we normally do it.

I've never known it to be this warm this time of night in July. It's sitting on 21C at 10:30pm.

I just went for a short stroll at midnight and it feels like the middle of summer. 20c and perfectly still. Crazy considering just a couple of nights back it was 3c at this time of night. Seems somewhat akin to the temperature swings in parts of the US.

Just had a short period of large sky leaks. I want more lots more. Rainfall total exceeding 25 mm would be nice.

Perth radar is looking really pretty. It's been raining really solidly for the last 10 minutes.

Just eased off enough so I could go out. 5.5 mm in the rain gauge. Still raining and it's looking very dark to the NW.

Ended up with 16.5 mm at 9.00 am. I didn't think it was raining that heavily.

I got 28mm out that lot. Woo!

Did anyone notice how fast the lower clouds were moving at the back end of the front? Absolutely crankin' it. You can sort of see it in the sat loop.

Looking good for hail definitely! Just need that cold air mass to push a bit further north and some good timing and I reckon the Stirlings will cop their first blast of snow for the season.

It's tipping it down here in the CBD at the moment. Rather unexpected rainfall and I notice Swanbourne has been up to 17mm since 9am now.

This morning's model run is looking more promising. The south coast is going to cop it on Monday night.

Damn, well I guess I won't be riding the pushy into work on Monday! But shouldn't complain, we need the rain.
