Very cold start to the cooler season.
Some of the rainfall tallies might not be huge but they are happening more frequently than up here.

Those small falls are consistently ticking along keeping things reasonably green down there.

yeah
most of the weather in the last week has slipped by to the south
but we have had the odd shower or even small band of showers come through
so while we have had bugger all, ditto for the airport
town has had some decent falls
so all in all, very patchy

BoM severe weather warning out that includes South Coast
Severe Weather Warning

IDW28001
Severe Weather Warning
for damaging winds
for people in the South West, South Coastal, South East Coastal and Great Southern forecast districts

Issued at 10:58 am WST on Saturday 24 May 2014.

For people in parts of WA south of a line from Bunbury to Hyden to Hopetoun, extending to southwest of a line Bunbury to Hyden to Esperance by late afternoon. This includes people in, near or between the following towns: Bunbury, Narrogin, Katanning, Albany, Bridgetown, Margaret River, Busselton and Esperance.
Weather Situation

A deep low pressure system [989 hPa] lies well to the south of Cape Leeuwin while a cold front is crossing the southwest corner of the state. Both systems will move east during Saturday.

The low and associated cold front may cause DAMAGING WINDS to 100 kilometres per hour that could result in DAMAGE TO HOMES AND PROPERTY during Saturday. Small hail is also possible in thunderstorms south of a line Margaret River to Bremer Bay. Tides will be higher than normal along the west coast.

Wind gusts of 102 kilometres per hour have been reported from Cape Leeuwin at 10:11 am.

This is typical weather for this time of the year but winds may cause damage to property and make road conditions hazardous.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:

If outside find safe shelter away from trees, power lines, storm water drains and streams.
Close your curtains and blinds, and stay inside away from windows.
Unplug electrical appliances and do not use land line telephones if there is lightning.
If boating, swimming or surfing leave the water.
Be alert and watch for hazards on the road such as fallen power lines and loose debris.

If your home or property has significant damage, like a badly damaged roof or flooding, call the SES on 132 500.

The next warning will be issued by 5:00 pm WST Saturday.
