Behold today is 1 February 2014. We need suggestions for the title for this Month. My suggestion is Fried Egg February.

It looks like the Carnarvon plantation owners are very happy chappies because an extended flow of the Gascoyne River is expected according to ABC News North West;

Doesn't matter how clear or crisp an image is of lightning, it is always a fascinating thing to look at over and over.

I think we have Katabatic (down slope) enhancement of the easterly wind.

It's pretty blowy here in Marangaroo.

Sort of reminds me of the Antarctic Katabatic winds,.
Also thought this video worth watching

I was interested in concentrating on the SW corner of WA to see where the moisture for our cloud and wx systems originate.

Some very messed up scary images coming from these fires.

The smoke now extends quite a way out to sea.
This is the Aqua MODIS image. The area shown is on the outer part of the focal point so it is doubled up.

And this shows how far out the smoke now extends

looks like someone at the BoM turned the katabatic generator off
because the easterlies have eased off
this is good because it was really howling down here

Yeah, it was much calmer here in Perth. Thankfully. Those fires still burning but no news on homes lost which is a relief. A couple damaged apparently. We tweeted someones ac on fire but it looked like the Firies got it sorted fast.

Winds along the Bight coast line were looking very strong.
