Photograph I took of Emu Point a few weeks back. Multiple exposures blended into one photograph using the GIMP.

Nice one Pete. What was the opacity per layer?
I want to give that a go.

About to enjoy a day of explaining meteorology to a group of people and helping them to build and read their own aneroid barometers.

Yeah Roland, the opacity was about 90%. I took the sky photo and sea photo separately and then blended them together. The sky was a 1 second exposure on f22 @ 100 ISO. The sea/rocks photo was a 5 second exposure on f22 @ 100 ISO. I've just added another layer and and adjusted the colour balance for better contrast and colour. Pretty happy with the final outcome.

Are we going to have a topic tittle for the July thread, or will it be 'General July Weather' again? Image

By all means give over a few ideas for a title.
Sorry about this one.
I'll go back when I can and edit the title.

Feel free to start a new thread EOS.
I think the best format is someone starts a new thread, we all post the thread ideas in that and we kick on from there :)
The leadership team can edit the title at any point.

Meteor plunges into ocean lighting up Perth sky:

http://www.perthnow.com.au/news/top-sto ... 6413309565

PerthNow reader Gavin Trought snapped the 'fire in the sky' as it appeared over Cottesloe just before sunset on Friday, with remnants of the phenomenon still visible in the sky this afternoon.

"The weird streak in the sky as seen from Cottesloe last night. I noticed it just before sunset," he told us.

Perth journalist Pip Moir also posted the photo she took at Cottesloe Beach to Twitter shortly after 6pm as puzzled onlookers debated what caused the colourful phenomena.

Daniel Jongue, manager at The Naked Fig Cafe, said he noticed "something on the horizon'' just before sunset.

He said the fiery trail took about 20 minutes to dissipate.

"It looked like vapour. It was red, orange and yellow and quite beautiful,'' he said.

A spokesman for the Bureau of Meteorology said the weather bureau's radar would not pick up a fast moving object like a meteor.

Perth Observatory and Astronomy WA could not be reached for comment.

General June Weather 2012 (Makuru)

Postby Fu Manchu » Mon Jul 02, 2012 6:00 am

Photos of this were sent to us and to two guys at BoM yesterday evening.

We all told them that this was a vapour trail from an aircraft.

Plane flying at a diagonal to Cot and over the horizon. Upper level winds distorting the trail of cloud as time goes on.

Perth Now knew this.
Never let the truth get in the way of a good story hey PerthNow?
