Cool, thanks for that Duideka.
Starting to get a bit breezy here, actually very windy with some short sharp violent gusts. With the amount of rain we've had, if it starts to get any windier, trees are goin to be droppin everywhere. Been raining for about 22 hours now.

Hello fellow weather watchers, Lily here dropping in from over at the Australian Weather Forum *waves to Fu*

One of our members, 28storms, a US based group of meteorology undergraduates, has posted a new youtube link over on AWF that I thought you would all like to see regarding the current tropical lows over WA and NT way.

Enjoy  (and love the forum, I've lurked for some time, well done all!)

great vid, very informative. The only prob I could find id that they are expecting the system off our NW to continue to move away from the coast whereas the BOM have changed the track to show a more southerly movement instead of the WSW movement in the vid.

My pleasure :D

So now it's a race to see who comes first (NT or WA) and becomes Carlos! Shame we don't get TC's in Melbourne, I find them fascinating, but given I can't stand humidity (nor does my poor frizzy hair lol), I'll stay put in Melbourne and watch from afar :P

Well what a wet event that little bugger was. 789mm for me in three days : Tuesday 173mm, Wednesday 397mm, Thursday 219mm. Well it's finally stopped raining a few hours ago but, it's about to start again :x . I had no power for 28 hours but wasn't really worried cause had phones, radio, food and plenty of water. A lot of trees down, mainly because the ground was so wet and with the wind they just fell over, a lot of them slicing power lines in half, I haven't seen any power poles down, pretty much because they are all steel.
Heaps of houses had some sort of water entering either through the roof or coming in the front door. I have never seen it rain so much in all my life but it pretty much just was all gone quickly thanks to Darwin's very good drainage system.
And it was lovely and cool, getting to about 25 degrees, so I had jumper on all day  .

The winds were pretty intense on Tuesday night with a strong Monsoonal flow into the northern quadrant of the developing low, as these systems tend to strengthen during the night.

Hmm, it's a ex-TC now but they reckon it will re intensify at WA/NT border. My father lives in Kununurra so called him up to let him know what was on it's way.
