Perfect Flying Weather - Finland Style

Postby SimonB » Sun Aug 26, 2012 12:38 pm

As some of you will recall, I went to Finland for 2 weeks for holiday, ummm, work recently. I got back on Friday.

So, I expressed to the Finns that I would be keen to do some flying on the Sunday. This is the day before, when it was perfect sailing weather (yes, that's me, sailing a yacht for the first time ever):

So, after the Finns worked out that no helicopter flights were available, no balloon flights were available (all booked out due to perfect weather), they remembered that one of their employees held a PPL. So, flight organised for Sunday. When it rained. A lot. If we'd been with a less experienced pilot, it would have ben canned. Here's just one of the friendly cloud formations we avoided:

I did 'renew' my flying experience though, I took the control column for 10 minutes. Cool!

More in the non-weather photo section soon!

That would have been insanely good fun. I mean going for a fly would be good and then along comes the storm and you have your camera and everything comes together and you take those fricken good photos and then and then....

@-) Oh, Oh dear i don't know what happened there. I got all clouded up.

Bloody great Simon, I mean Captain... Sir.

Hehe, wait until I upload the next photo, Fu :-)

Thanks Peter, it was pretty surreal! 1300', to be accurate. How do I know that? You'll see...
