Can you post on FB if anyone remembers who "took" the photo?
Post the pic as a reminder.

Then if responses come forth post a link to this thread.
Take note of the FB account who claims it.

You can use www.tineye.com to search for photos, put in the URL of the pic and you can find out where else the same pic appears. I used it to "out" someone who posted a purported picture of Cyclone Yasi, which was really a storm picture taken somewhere and sometime else entirely... Here's the link to a TinEye search using the URL in the SMH lighting picture: http://www.tineye.com/search/54a49527ea ... a1b4f3aa8/ Alas there are a LOT (159) of occurrences of this picture, I've checked some of them and there are a lot of dead links, and links to peoples blog posts with lists of great pictures they've found on the internet (unlinked and uncredited of course, the librarian in me rolls her eyes!) and links to non-english blogs. So didn't find anyone falsely claiming to be the author...

Hmmm the plot thickens.
Unless they got caught out already and removed the picture?

Figgles, you are a wonderful lady :)

Yeah thanks for the link to that site. :)

I still can't find it. Been through the newsfeed again, I'd say that person deleted it. Doubt if there's much more we can do. :|

You can now search for photos using google images:

http://www.google.com.au/imghp?hl=en&tab=wi

All you need to do is drag the photo into the search bar in google images and it will do a image search. If you use firefox of google chrome, you can download a extension which will allow you to search images via the right click menu.

Figgles! That's very clever. I've never heard of such a thing. This would actually be useful to me. Thank you :)

My pleasure! It's the sort of thing 21st century librarians get to know about and are happy to share!
