The Very Easy Guide To Posting A Photo Or Image

Postby Pete » Fri Jun 10, 2011 11:08 pm

A lot of people seem to have trouble uploading photos to weathergroup, so I have made a very simple guide to posting photos.

This is for people who have a photobucket account. :)

Okay, say you want to upload a radar image. Go to single radar images at the bom site.http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDR703.shtml

Save the image to your computer.

Okay, you log into your photobucket account, then click on Album Options and you should have a list of of options.

Click on Upload photos and videos.

It should then come up with a green toolbar saying Select photos and videos.

You then select the images/photos from your computer and click OK. It should then go through the process of uploading.

Once your images are uploaded move your cursor onto the photo. It will have four options on how to share the photo.

Click on direct link and it will come up with Copied.

Then go to your post and click on Img.

Paste the link between these: [img] /img]

And this is what should come up:

I just made this a sticky BP :)
It is a fairly similar process to post an image from any other location on the net.

Search for the image using google or similar.
To select the image, right click: view image.
Right click copy image location.
and using the "post reply" or "full editor" here on the forum (not quick reply) you see the "Img" box.
Click that and you get (I have inserted the dots so the tags don't vanish when I post this)
Then paste the image location between the ] [ of the "img" tags
"img" can be in or

So as an example I searched "Terrance and Phillip" on google.
http://www.google.com.au/search?q=terra ... =firefox-a
Then selected view images
http://www.google.com.au/search?q=terra ... =919&uss=1
Then from all those images right clicked over the chosen image and selected "view image".

Then right click again and select "copy image location"
http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9 ... n3WQftxwUA
Then clicked post reply and clicked on the "img" box.

Then paste between the tags and you get

Sorry mate, can't get that to work. When I paste the stuff I copied in 'copy image location' I get a bazillion lines of code (or URL) but no image??

Not sure what's the problem. I went to google, got a picture of lightning, pressed Copy Image Location and pasted between the [img] things and got this:

Maybe you should save the image and do it through a photo hosting site. :)

Try view image before copy image location. Otherwise it won't work.

Well how about that - it worked!

So for those who don't get anything like 'view image' as an option (as I didn't), I went to 'image properties' and highlighted and copied the URL from there.

'bout time

Well done :)
I hope we get to see more of what you find or take.
You might even get to the skill level of EOS and those cartoonie things he posts in seemly no time at all.
Or maybe those animated GIFs that Pete posts
