Mosquito risk for northern and inland WA

The Department of Health has issued a warning to residents and visitors to the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, Murchison, Midwest and Goldfields regions to avoid mosquito bites in the coming weeks.
The Department’s Medical Entomologist Dr Mike Lindsay said mosquitoes could be a major nuisance and may also be carrying Ross River virus and Barmah Forest virus.
“Rainfall and flooding from Cyclone Nicholas have lead to widespread mosquito breeding and this may be accompanied by an increased risk of transmission of mosquito-borne viruses,â€
