Yep... storm hit here ( Oyster Harbour ) about 3:30 am, lasted about 15 - 20 minutes
then another round about 20-30 minutes after that
had to race around unplugging computers, modems, microwaves
WeatherZone currently has most of that lot out to sea to the SE, but there are still a few stragglers around

it's currently 20.9, overnight low 20.4
overcast with really low cloud base
light northerly here and just over 1 mm in the gauge

Pete and I caught up with Brayden yesterday in Albany
nice to meet others who understand that mammatus is not something to do with cows

Glad we got the same storm Nev, I'm staying at Coraki Cottages which is just after the first bridge (top end of Oyster Harbour).

Yeah cloud was around 300-600ft. Be interesting to get anvil milk come down lol

The ripper storm that followed dumped about 17 mm in Pete's gauge in about 20 - 30 minutes
temporarily flooding parts of Bayonet head
plenty of lightning
that storm passed followed by quite a few more
that was about 4:30 and still hearing rumbles now

well yesterday was Hot and really humid, storms early in the morning, late afternoon and again about 4:45 this morning
it is quite a pleasant 22 degrees, low base overcast and a nice little breeze
overnight low was 21
there is 25 mm in Pete's gauge but most of that fell yesterday arvo in about 30 mins

getting ready today for whatever comes our way tomorrow with TC Bianca
although they ( the media ) are saying strong SE winds for Albany...

not much happening here at the moment all things considered
it's overcast and windy ( BOM has 22 / 26 km/hr )
currently 20.3 degrees, overnight 19.7
There is 14mm in Pete's gauge

The severe thunderstorms sort of fizzled out last night by the time they got here
( around 6:30 - 7:00 pm )
we did have storms but not really severe, apparently there was a blackout in Albany
apparently about 400 - 500 homes

Its overcast ( really low base ) and raining - quite steadily
which is OK but it needs to happen a little more regularly
currently 19.0 degrees, overnight 19.0 - so no change
a cool southerly breeze ( BOM has 15 / 28 at the airport )
4 mm in Petes gauge

Overcast here this morning but not raining
however it did in the night because there is 1mm in the gauge
just a very light breeze
The BOM has 0 / 0 from the NW
currently 17.8, overnight 15.9

I'm trying to figure out how you can have 0 km/hr from the NW
they're very clever the BOM chaps
you would think that if it were 0 km/hr, the pointer should just sort of sag towards the ground
like a wet sock hanging on the washing line
or something...

yes yes I can see the logic behind that....

the thing is ... at an airport you look at the windsock
and you can see the wind is doing nothing
the windsock is pointing at the ground

then the reading would be "0 km/hr : windsock sagging"
trouble is ... I can foresee unforeseen problems
if the guy entering all this into the BOM computer has had a few too many the night before
"windsock sagging" could end up being .... well almost anything really

still pondering the deeper mysteries of life

well as the Albany weather has become boring again, light rain on and off this morning
I thought I might link to some interesting Space Weather sites
at the moment there is a big group of sunspots and a coronal hole causing astronomers some excitement
http://spaceweather.com/
and the Sun Today always has some interesting photos
http://www.windows2universe.org/space_w ... today.html
Solar wind has increased from around 300km/sec to over 500km/sec
and the effects of the recent solar activity is meant to hit us over the next 2-3 days
and some good pics of Aurora have been put up lately

anyway back home to Albany
currently 17.7 , overnight low 15.4, nil wind
the overcast is breaking up and although the rain has stopped
there is about 1 1/2 mm in the gauge

Friday Feb 04
6:30 am

A broken medium level layer of cloud above the City of Dreams this morning
virtually nil wind, the neighbours flag was 100% sag with isolated flapping
currently 19.9, overnight low 17.6

Not The BOM has issued a Catastrophic Boredom advice
Residents of Albany and surrounding districts are advised that the weather is going to do nothing of significance
and a severe drizzle alert has been issued with wind gusts forecast to 20 km/hr
