Started off with thunderstorms at 5am. Lightning was quite active, around 5 - 6 flashes per minute. I took quite a few good photos, very pleased with the results. :) The thunderstorms cleared to a partly cloudy day. Thick cloud is moving down from the northwest again, so we should see those showers and storms return to the southwest overnight and tomorrow. Hopefully it will be a lot more widespread than last time.
Currently 15.6 degrees, overnight low 15.8 degrees, today's max 22.2 degrees
Humidity 80%
Pressure 1016hPa and rising
Winds S'ly at 2.3km/h
No rain

Woke up to steady rainfall in Albany this morning. That cleared not long after sunrise but stormy skies remained until mid-morning. Some impressive structure associated with cb's off the coast but they didn't produce anything here, all the lightning was off the coast. Skies mostly cleared around mid-day before cumulus developed this afternoon and overcast conditions returned this evening. Just partly cloudy skies out there now, looks like we'll get rain soon.
Currently 15.0 degrees, overnight low 14.4 degrees, today's max 23.8 degrees.
Humidity 88%
Pressure 1006hPa and steady (it dropped to 1003hPa this morning and then rose this evening)
Winds W/NW at 6km/h
Rain, 7mm to 9am, none since

for Monday May 07

we're a bit behind because its been chaos here
Monday in Albany was overcast initially
the front hit here around 11:30 am, however looking at the radar it seemed to break up as it neared Albany
most of the thunderstorms passed to the south with only one or two coming near
rain was pretty sporadic as well, nothing recorded at the airport till 01:30 pm
finally totalling 7mm to midnight, and another 3mm overnight to 9 am today making 10 mm total
wind wasn't as severe here as predicted with nothing at the airport over 60 km/hr
temps maxed at 18.6
you can never always sometimes tell
when you least expect the most

Thanks for the link Fu. :) Now that I've have a decent DLSR I'm keen on improving my photography. Hopefully I won't have too much study when that's on, I might be able to go along.
Today was a mostly sunny day, though there was a fire to the west of town that helped push cumulus towers up around mid-day but they dissipated quickly in the stable air. Tomorrow is looking promising for thunderstorms. Latest forecast sounding shows LI's of -4C and CAPE nearing 1000j/kgs. Speed shear is excellent but directional shear isn't that great. Should be an interesting day though.

Well, that was a day we won't forget in a hurry. The day started partly cloudy and looking unstable. Storms built rapidly to the south and east during the morning with more cu developing during the day. Storms came in from the northwest around 2pm and rapidly intensified. Hail of up to 2cm fell, 8mm in 30 minutes, quite squally winds at times. All was over in about an hour or so. Photos are in the southern thread.
Anyway, storms are long gone now, clear skies and cold conditions now.
Currently 12.4 degrees, overnight low 11.3 degrees, today's max 23.1 degrees.
Humidity 86%

Been a quiet day weatherwise. It was a cold clear morning after some more rain overnight. The cloud returned after sunrise and lingered for most of the day before gradually clearing this afternoon. Clear skies out there again now, a cool wind blowing and I can hear the swell from the habour. So good.
Currently 12.0 degrees, overnight low 8.3 degrees, today's max 19.1 degrees.
Humidity 84%

Yeah, it was a nice fog this morning. I was up at 6 studying for an environmental science test, and the fog was fairly thick then, I couldn't see the Kalgan or across the habour toward Mt. Martin. It was cold too, I could breathe steam until about 8:30am. It was a partly cloudy day with cumulus building on the Stirlings this arvo but they dissipated as the sun went down.
