Darwin Monsoon

Postby peterperthh » Tue Feb 19, 2008 1:13 pm

Darmin seems to have been doing alright from monsoonal storms lately!

They have had 495mm this month (from my calculations) , which is fairly impressive on the 19th of the month when the average is 358!

Also pretty impressive is the 44.6mm that fell this afternoon at a rainfall rate of 99.1mm/hr

Yes very impressive figures up there in Darwin, would love to be in that! :) They had a very good January up there as well so must be lovely and green up there at the moment. Darwin is one place that rarely disappoints with the rainfall totals.

I've just had 205mm from the last 24hrs. (0000 - 2400)
And it doesn't look like letting up all night.
I'll have to check my 24hr reading at 9am.

There is a tropical low sitting just NW of here and it is going to have this effect for the next few days.
Some big fall coming.

Dum in Mirrie has had over 700mm in 3 days.
