Darwin recorded a new rainfall record over night with 105 mm for highest daily rainfall for November
I awoke sometime during the night to the sound of a deluge outside, will check the gauge soon :D

Darwin had 36.1 Temp yesterday, which is record for January? Blazing as hell hot for here, is probably normal for Kununurra or Wyndham .
Monsoon looks like moving in Sunday or Monday with a possible low pressure system developing, if it develops into a cyclone, we might get a brush up, all this heat can be a precursor for nasty weather.

Have had about 350 - 400 mm in the past week here. Ground is waterlogged and haven't seen the sun for a while. Lovely monsoonal conditions, cool, the rain is easing up now, good thing before the mould starts and looks like more of the same toward the end of the week :ymbringiton:

Get the F outta here! That's more rain than we have in ¾ of a year and even about what we have had in whole years past.

Is that what the sun looks like

More rain then you can poke a stick at and some and add some more but wait, there's more, still raining. Have had 1 rain free day out of 28 days , ~900 since 9 January for me
~1800 mm for me for the wet thus far and still 2 1/2 months to go eeeekk
The ground is really saturated now, so if there was some serious wind, more then the 90 or so monsoonal gusts, then there could be a lot of well.. mulch x_x

2231 mm for me this wet season. Was some very heavy falls around on Saturday, someone had 112 mm in 20 mins :-o
Time for dry season now, get some vegies growing hopefully, enjoy being sweat free at least until the dust , smoke and dry crackling skin annoy me

The NT News
Oh how we heart thee

http://www.ntnews.com.au/news/northern- ... 7027151628

"
DARWIN is about to get as warm as Iceland in the next few days as the temperature drops to 16 degrees in the mornings.

Weather Bureau senior forecaster Angeline Prasad said the morning temperature in the Top End would shock a few people.

“For Darwin the average is about 20 degrees. Four degrees below is significantly cooler,” she said

“We’re expecting the temperature below 20 degrees for the next few days.”

Comparatively, Iceland, in the Northern Hemisphere, is experiencing top temperatures of 17 degrees in its summer.

The record lowest temperature for Darwin in August is 13.2 degrees.

A typical Territorian makes his way into town to buy some warmer thongs.
“There’s a really dry southeast flow and the trajectory doesn’t change at least until Wednesday,” Ms Prasad said.

“From Thursday we might see a slight warming.”

The humidity in Darwin dropped to 11 per cent on Saturday.

Top Enders are experiencing a longer-than average dry season because the temperature has dipped below 20 degrees for 52 days. The average is 50 days and the record is 94.

The rest of the Territory is also experiencing cool weather, but a gradual warming is on the way."

Good old NT Amuse, I only read the NT Snooze when I'm suffering insomnia =))

First convective clouds today, with a deep sea breeze. Bit of a dry SE surge coming through over the weekend, hopefully the last; slowly edging our way into 2014 build up, so many hanging out for that first crunchy booming thunder accompanied by cow horns and dog legs being spat out of monster boiling towers =p~

After a long hot September, the first week of October next week looks like we might get some storms and rain
With the changes that are happening with climate, I hope these longer hot dry weeks and short intense rain events aren't to become more common
