Had a big line of storms overnight. Had 100.5 mm here at home, most places picked up a lot less, looking good for tonight again :)

Still hot & ridiculously humid. Is like wearing a wet suit at work but, I must love it.
Damn Hell Nino. Is meant to pick up this week for storms but, could be hit and miss until first - second week of January . The monsoon may not come till Mid January. :ymdevil:

Monsoon almost here now. I had 156 mm for December which is about half my usual for this month, a pretty much dull month. I think I have about 3 photo's of lightning for this season, all taken on 15 th October, have been 'unwell' most of this month so am hoping to get out again . Haven't had as much rain though the grass is really starting to grow now, is a nice time of year to be mowing ie No Dust :)
Happy New Year everyone

Thanks Benni.
Have been watching the Darwin web cams a bit.
You have lucked out a bit this year again.
Get the feeling that the monsoon is getting later and shorter

Hi Fu,
It's hard to say if they are getting shorter and later. There seems to be a definite change in weather patterns everywhere and I think water is soon to become a lot more valuable then oil . The world is getting warmer in places it normally doesn't and colder for longer in the northern Hemisphere with the jet stream going further south
I have had about 220 mm since Wednesday on a side note

Was a massive supercell over Woolner about 60 km east of Darwin yesterday evening. It formed on one of the outer bands of TC Lam. Have seen some excellent photo's by Jacci Ingham and Willoughby Owen, on their Flickr pages

Rain on Wednesday didn't eventuate after TC Nathan carked it after ingesting too much dry air. Had heavy rain overnight which started about 4 pm yesty, still raining now, waiting to do some mowing or at least get sent home. Darwin airport had 101 mm, Marrara had 138 mm. Had about 40 mm at home. Would be better if the rain went inland for the rivers, lots of people would be disappointed if the Barra run off was not good this year

Had 1516 mm for the wet here at home, lower then two years ago total of 1566 mm .
Darwin received 1380 mm , about 300 below average , the driest wet in ten years
